My name is Andrea and I am OBSESSED with hosting events; especially bridal showers! So when my bestie Halina got engaged, I began brainstorming ideas immediately! Who am I kidding, I have been waiting to shower her with love for years now, gathering ideas and saving them in my back pocket for the day when Cody put a ring on it (and it’s a stunning one at that!).
The bride insisted that I keep it simple and not make a big fuss – no games, no presents; so a brunch it was. Who has a great brunch here in Kelowna… The Hotel Eldorado does – plus they have a stunning private dining room that fit my vision perfectly! Now it was time to book the venue and invite the girls.
Inviting Guests: For smaller intimate gatherings, I love mailing a hard copy invite. I have an obsession with hand written notes and cards and I think it’s a gesture that has been lost over the years. It’s always nice to have a little keepsake. In this case the bride requested an email so I opted for a digital version which included a nautical theme to tie in the location; which is right on the water and I definitely had to go with a pop of sparkle and bright florals.
Decor/Florals: Other than the bride, this is THE MOST IMPORTANT factor to me when I’m hosting a shower. I really wanted to take the guests breath away when they entered the room at the Eldorado and I think I was able to do just that! I knew exactly what I was looking for and I knew just the gal that had it… Miss Yuriko of Vintage Origami. Her curated pieces are a decorators dream and it was such an honour to be able to select pieces from her collection to create the perfect brunch. I mean COME ON… Look that that sequin tablecloth! That and the custom floral arrangements from Christina of Classic Creations Floral Design were the talk of the day! What can I say !? I know where to shop!
Gift For The Bride: On the wedding day, it’s always nice to have a robe that you can wear while you are getting ready that ties up in the front so you don’t wreck your hair and that isn’t too warm (the wedding is a destination wedding this coming Spring). Pretty Plum Sugar has the MOST STUNNING fabrics, so it was a given on where I was ordering her one from! They are currently running a free tote with any ‘pink poppy print‘ purchase and 15% of the proceeds will be donated to breast cancer charities from now until the end of the month. (use code ‘prettyawareness15‘ at checkout).
A Little Something For The Guests: If I love it, you’re bound to get your hands on it and that held true for my new addiction, Sauce for Skin. This line is handmade right here in Kelowna by a friend of mine and it’s the only line I use for myself and the kiddos! Their baby lotion and rash balm saved my baby’s skin and I will be forever grateful to Lesley for that! Each guest received a handmade personalized gift bag from Mavis & Madge which contained natural and organic scrubs, lotions and lip balm from Sauce for Skin to keep them ‘Saucy’ all year round!
It was truly the perfect day and I think the bride was lost for words over how special and beautiful the day turned out.
Shoes: Nine West – old (love these)
A BIG thank you to the staff at The Hotel Eldorado and Lakeside Dining Room for having us, Yuriko and Christina for assisting me with my tall decor order as well as Hannes van der Merwe for the lovely photos included above. Cheers to the bride-to-be!
