Colour Block Coat

2 / 4 / 162 / 11 / 16

Happy February Guys!

I hope you are all having a great week! Things are going well here at our place. I have my birthday coming up next week so I’ve been brainstorming what we should do for it. I’m leaning towards just having a simple night at home with pizza from my fave pizza shop: Dunnenzies and a good new release comedy movie. Can you recommend any new comedies?

We were able to get out this week and snap some pics of this SheIn Colour Block Coat. This is a great piece to transition into the warmer months. It’s really nice quality, so soft and it’s light enough but still keeps you warm. I prefer to leave it open so I ordered a Medium. It’s so sophisticated – I’m in love! Plus, that red just makes it POP!

3 Tips To Surviving 2016

1 / 22 / 163 / 11 / 16

Happy Thursday!

Do you ever get worked up over things that are so far in advance for no reason whatsoever?! I DO, I DO!

In my last post, I shared a look back at 2015. It was truly a magical year, a new baby, a more relaxed outlook on life. Why can’t it just stay like this forever… well….because we all have bills to pay and it’s time to get back to reality – and work.

My maternity leave is up in May and I will be returning to work 4 days a week. In our household, I tend to the cooking and cleaning so the thought of managing this again on my own while working is what’s causing an OVERWELMING feeling of anxiety. Here are some of the tools and resources that I will be utilizing in 2016 to manage our busy household (and my busy mind).

Simplified Planner on table

Emily Ley Planners and Printables

It was January 1st in a blink of an eye and I hadn’t even looked into a new agenda to organize my thoughts for the year. Note to self: diarize ordering a new Agenda for September so it’s not a panic (and they won’t be all sold out!). I really wanted a weekly planner vs. a daily planner as I like to focus on life week by week. I loved the idea of having two separate planners. One for my blog and one for our personal affairs. Emily Ley offered a home based binder that was right up my alley. I also loved her free online printables.

She offers lots of handy tips on her Facebook page (I’ve added her to “see first” on my Facebook Newsfeed) so I can catch the daily tip each morning. Here are two that I definitely needed to do as soon as I saw them! She is celebrating her babies turning one this week with a full week of SALES. Did somebody say “SALE” – Yes Please!

Click and Collect

I want to bring my children to the grocery store – SAID NO ONE EVER! LOL. So I introduce to you my new best friend…Superstore’s ‘Click and Collect’. For a $3.00 fee (so cheap – I know!) Superstore will have their handy staff do your shopping for you. You order online, pick your time slot, checkout and drive up. You can even utilize their ‘notes’ function to advise the shopper that you would like ie. two bunches of bananas, one ripe and one green. I like choosing the ‘substitute’ option. This made me nervous at first, so I chose ‘do not substitute’ but there were a couple items that were out of stock that they promptly advised me of and suggested their substitute, which were exactly what I would have grabbed. The only item I don’t substitute is their in house cheese bread because nothing compares!

Organize My Inbox

My inbox is seriously BLOWING UP with emails. Between the latest sales and personal messages, It was time to sift through it all and get back on track. I decided to link my phone so that when I delete an email, it also deletes it from my inbox. I created folders to file all my important emails, recipes, photos etc.

My main problem was not being able to see what I was subscribed to. I actually intended to unsubscribe to a bunch of subscriptions but just didn’t make the time. Unroll me is a free app that helped me gain control of my inbox again and helped me decide which emails I wanted to keep coming in and which ones I was OVER. It took me under two minutes to unsubscribe from over 25 subscriptions.

I hope some of these tips can help you as much as they are proving to help me! I would love to hear what tips you have to simplifying life! Please be sure to share in the comments below. Have a great week!

A Look Back At 2015

1 / 9 / 161 / 19 / 16

Happy New Year Everyone!

We just finished enjoying some much needed time at home over the holidays. We enjoyed lots of family dinners, Cards Again Humanity and WAY TO MUCH cheer! I’m officially on week one of my lifestyle change and goal of losing this baby weight – wish me luck!

I just spent the evening scrolling through our Dropbox reflecting on 2015 and all it had to offer. I can honestly say that is was the best year of my life thus far. Have a look at all these awesome photos from the past year and you will see why!

Preparing the Nursery: It has become a tradition in our family to have Chase’s dad, Ken paint and help prepare each of the baby’s rooms before their arrival. He waits patiently as Chase and I come to some sort of agreement or should I say, while we negotiate on the theme and colour. Custom tissue paper florals by Mosaic Party & Event Design and the cross stitch (look closely at what it says) was made by my sister in law Lauren as a baby shower gift.

My Orchard Park Ambassadorship ended in this past Summer with a larger than life marquee as well as a life size cut out of me inside the mall – all 5 ft 3 of me. It was very surreal. They just took the marquee down about a month ago but Madison loved driving by and telling her sister “Look Kennedy, you were inside Mom’s tummy in that photo” Ya, I guess she’s right – I was pregnant on a billboard lol. You can read more about my Orchard Park experiences here.

^^We took a lot of pics of the bump.

^^This was my last day being pregnant. I went almost two weeks overdue and I had no idea that my water had broke two days prior to the day I was set to be induced – ooops.

She’s HERE! We welcomed Kennedy Lauren Spence (named after Chase’s dad Kenneth and his sister Lauren) to the world on June 13th, 2015 in what took all of 5 minutes – insane I know! I will for sure get around to sharing her birth story and how it all went down one day really soon.

^^My best friend Halina and I attended Diner en Blanc. It was my first time away from Kennedy but it was SO worth it! Countdown is on until next year! Make sure you Sign Up to attend.

We had to say goodbye to our cat Oliver in May right before Madison’s birthday. I can’t thank Dr. O’Reilly (and his staff) for holding my hand through this terrible loss. The hardest part was explaining to a four year old why her best friend was no longer going to be around (*tear). Towards the latter part of the year, an opportunity arose where a stray kitten needed a forever home. It felt like enough time had passed that it was time to welcome a new addition into our home. (He is scaling the blinds as we speak – ugh lol)

BlogPodium - Image 7

I was lucky enough to attend Blogpodium 2015 in Vancouver. The whole family hit the open road… It was a heck of a trip! I forgot a couple of my main bags at home and overpacked for the kids. It was my first time being away from Kennedy for such a long period of time. The Pan Pacific Vancouver was great on ensuring that I had somewhere to plug in my breast pump and pump since I am nursing and I was away from the baby for so long. While I was driving back from downtown Van, my phone died and I had to navigate my way back to Surrey with no assistance and a dead phone. I am NOT a good BIG CITY drive. A panic attack later, I managed to get lost only two blocks from where we were staying which was a HUGE accomplishment! Read more about Blogpodium here.

^^ I enjoyed 15% off and a couple special wine deliveries straight to my door thanks to the Cedar Creek Estate Winery Platinum Club – Just in time for the holidays!

I am spending this month setting out my goals and getting my life in order. I will be sharing a look at the lessons I learned over the past year and what I will be changing in 2016. Cheers to a fresh start!
